For the recruitment of Secondary Grade Teacher, Tamil Nadu Teacher Recruitment Board has set an eligibility criteria. Qualification:

- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, following NCTE norms.
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- Graduation with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
In addition to the educational qualification, candidates must have passed the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) Paper-I.
Note: It is not necessary to fulfill all qualifications; candidates need to meet the requirements of any one option from the given choices.
