Responsibilities Of Quality Officer

  • Monitor product quality online and take immediate action through production officers and CP management to address any issues.
  • Ensure testing of finished goods according to standard sampling and test methods with correct documentation and participate in regular product quality exercises.
  • Periodically verify process records, incoming quality check records, ingredient shelf-life records, and in-process quality check records.
  • Regularly verify the correct functioning of critical process equipment like weighing balances, metal detectors, sifters, dividers, moulders, oven, slicers, and coders.
  • Ensure compliance with basic hygiene, food safety, and GMP requirements in manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with critical food safety processes at any point during manufacturing, including metal detector operation, pest control, and conveyor use.
  • Conduct training sessions for workers to raise awareness of quality standards, GMP, food safety, and hygiene.
  • – Conduct regular audits of systems, processes, and the lab to verify compliance with quality and food safety standards.
  • -Take immediate and appropriate action against issues related to process/system/norm non-adherence, equipment malfunctioning, quality monitoring, food safety, and hygiene to prevent adverse effects on consumers and brand value.

Statuary Compliance

  • Ensure wrappers are checked for correct addresses, MRP, veg logo, mandatory declarations, and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Check sufficient samples for weight at every stage of production.
  • Take immediate action in the process to correct non-adherence before continuing.
  • Verify compliance to pack weights by random sampling regularly.
  • Do not release lots with underweight packs without 100% checking and sorting.
  • Ensure the coder functions with legible printing on every pack across SKUs.
  • Follow systems during changes in date, shift, supervisor’s name, with necessary documentation.
  • Verify compliance to coding by random sampling regularly.
  • Calibrate all weighing balances and dead weights as per schedule and do not use without necessary certification.
  • Consumer Complaints: Share every complaint as received with CP management, concerned supervisors, operators, and shop floor workers.
  • Identify probable causes of the complaint irrespective of sample availability, in consultation with CP management, supervisors, operators, and workers.
  • Assist in designing corrective and preventive measures with the team and implement them immediately.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of action through regular evaluation of process and product, and trend of similar complaints in subsequent months.
  • Analyse all complaints in terms of category, SKU, extent, trend, etc., and share with CP management regularly to demonstrate status of improvement and draw up further action plans.

Bechmark

  • Visit retail outlets and distribution points weekly to understand customer and consumer quality concerns.
  • Evaluate competition products in terms of grammage, packaging, and product quality features.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and share action plans with operations and quality for improvements.
  • Measure the effectiveness of improvement through market evaluation and customer feedback.
  • Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities in areas like system, process, cost, and time in consultation with operations and quality, and apply a project-based approach towards improvement. Periodically review improvement in the overall quality of processes and systems at the factory.
  • Management Information System: Send periodic summary reports on factory quality performance to the quality manager. Communicate critical quality and food safety concerns to the quality manager and all other concerned parties as soon as they are observed.
